Ghana’s Ambassador to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Alhaji Said Sinare, has expressed profound sorrow over the death of his Deputy Ambassador, Sanni Jajah, describing him as a brother, confidant, and trusted colleague. The news of his passing last Saturday has sent shockwaves throughout Ghana’s diplomatic circle, marking a significant loss for the nation’s foreign affairs landscape.

In a heartfelt statement released on Monday, Ambassador Sinare stated that Jajah was more than just a colleague with whom he shared diplomatic responsibilities; he was a man of exceptional character, intellectual depth, professional discipline, humility, and unwavering integrity. He served Ghana with a steadfast loyalty and dedication, making significant contributions to Ghana’s diplomatic representation in Saudi Arabia. ‘It has taken me several painful hours to summon the courage, composure, and strength to come to terms with the sudden and devastating demise of my beloved deputy,’ he said, emphasizing the depth of his grief.

Jajah was a man of considerable experience, and the statement highlighted his invaluable counsel, unquestionable commitment, and devotion to duty. He approached his responsibilities with maturity, discretion, wisdom, and courage, consistently making significant contributions to Ghana’s diplomatic presence in Saudi Arabia. Beyond his official duties, Ambassador Sinare described him as a warm, compassionate, and humane individual, a man who touched the lives of many through his kindness and brotherly spirit. ‘For me personally, this loss is immeasurable. I have lost a deputy, but more painfully, I have lost a brother. I have lost a trusted confidant, a valued colleague, and a man with whom I shared the burdens, responsibilities, challenges, and aspirations of representing Ghana in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia,’ he added. The loss extended beyond personal grief, with the embassy experiencing a significant setback due to the absence of a distinguished officer and the disruption to the diplomatic community.

Furthermore, the passing of Jajah has impacted the Embassy of Ghana in Riyadh, the diplomatic community, and the nation as a whole. The Ambassador’s loss represents a significant setback, highlighting the irreplaceable role of this individual within the nation’s international relations. The outpouring of condolences from family, relatives, and colleagues underscores the deep respect and affection held for Jajah. Ambassador Sinare extended his condolences to the bereaved family, relatives, friends, colleagues, and associates, urging them to remember Jajah for the dignity with which he lived, the integrity with which he served, and the lasting contributions he made to the institutions and people entrusted to his care. He also prayed for Allah’s mercy upon the deceased, asking that his shortcomings be forgiven, his good deeds be accepted, and that he be granted Jannatul Firdaus, the highest level of Paradise in Islam.

Meanwhile, Yussif Jajah, the Deputy Minister of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts and Member of Parliament for Ayawaso North, issued a brief statement confirming the funeral arrangements. He stated that details of the final funeral and arrangements for his nephew would be announced by the family in due course. He appealed to the public to keep the family in their thoughts and prayers during this difficult period, emphasizing the importance of collective remembrance.

President John Dramani Mahama appointed Sanni Jajah as Deputy Ambassador to Saudi Arabia on September 11, 2025, signifying a pivotal role in Ghana’s diplomatic strategy. The loss of this dedicated diplomat leaves a void in the nation’s foreign affairs and underscores the importance of honoring his contributions to Ghana’s international standing.
