Three separate fire incidents were recorded at Ogbojo, the Circle Roundabout and along the Teshie Bush Road in the Greater Accra Region on Sunday, August 9, 2026. This region has experienced a concerning rise in localized fires, prompting a swift response from the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS). The GNFS confirmed that an abandoned trailer and its contents were completely destroyed by fire at Ogbojo, a significant incident that underscores the potential for rapid fire spread within the area. The blaze also threatened two buses parked close to the burning trailer, requiring immediate action from firefighters. Firefighters, responding to the scene, were able to prevent the flames from spreading to the buses, a crucial step in mitigating potential damage. At the Circle Roundabout, firefighters were dispatched to a separate incident involving burning refuse. The fire was brought under control before it could spread to nearby properties, with no casualties reported. Furthermore, another fire was recorded along the Teshie Bush Road, where a vehicle caught fire. Firefighters swiftly responded to the incident and successfully extinguished the blaze, bringing the fire under control. The vehicle’s bonnet, engine compartment, and bumper were completely destroyed, highlighting the severity of the damage. The GNFS has not yet disclosed the cause of the two fires, but investigators are actively working to determine the origin of these incidents. Personnel from the Trade Fair Fire Station were involved in the extinguishing efforts, and they successfully extinguished the blaze, but the vehicle sustained significant damage. Notably, the Teshie Bush Road incident involved a vehicle that unfortunately succumbed to the flames, resulting in no injuries or fatalities. The GNFS stated that these incidents occurred at separate locations and were handled independently by firefighters, emphasizing that the investigations are ongoing to establish the precise circumstances behind each fire. The extent of the damage from these incidents is still being assessed, but it’s evident that the area is facing a heightened risk of fire due to the combination of factors, including the abandoned trailer and the surrounding vegetation. The GNFS is urging residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity immediately. The investigation into the cause of these fires is currently underway, and authorities are emphasizing the importance of proactive fire prevention measures in the region. This incident serves as a stark reminder of the potential hazards posed by unattended properties and the crucial role of the fire service in mitigating risks. The GNFS is working to understand the full impact of these events on the surrounding community, and they are committed to ensuring the safety of residents. The focus now shifts to identifying the cause of these fires to prevent future occurrences, and the investigation will involve a thorough assessment of the surrounding area.” , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , ,
