The Council, in a letter dated August 12, 2026, penned by the State Secretary, D.M. Ofori-Atta, highlights a dispute concerning the recognition and elevation of the Etweresohene, Ofosu Kwabi, to paramountcy status, a matter initiated by the State Council meeting on July 7, 2026. The letter details a previous letter from the DCE, accusing the Council of interfering with a customary dispute concerning the Etwereso chieftaincy, alleging that the DCE had mistakenly recognised and elevated Ofosu Kwabi to paramountcy. The AABTC contends that the Council has not appointed any individual as Regent for the Etwereso Stool, stating that the appointment was an unintentional oversight. The letter explicitly warns of potential escalation to the appropriate authorities if an apology is not forthcoming, emphasizing that the DCE’s actions constitute an encroachment on established chieftaincy processes.
