Basake Holy Stars bounced back from their heavy defeat to Medeama SC in match week four with a narrow 1–0 victory over Berekum Chelsea at the Ampain Stadium in Nzema.
Francis Asante scored as early as the sixth minute to give the home side the perfect start and ultimately proved to be the decisive goal of the encounter.
Berekum Chelsea pushed for an equaliser but Holy Stars stood firm defensively to protect their early advantage and secure all three points on home soil.
The victory provides a much-needed response for BasakeHoly Stars following their disappointing defeat to Medeamaand restores confidence in the Nzema-based side.
The three points move Holy Stars up to fifth place on the Ghana Premier League table with nine points after five matches, as they continue their push for a strong campaign.
