The Ministry of State for Special Initiatives, Dr Abdul-Rashid Pelpuo, announced that the government has identified over 400 businesses actively participating in the policy’s implementation. Speaking on Eyewitness News on Thursday, August 27, 2026, Dr Pelpuo detailed the situation, stating that the government has currently identified over 400 businesses expressing interest in operating under the 24-Hour Economy framework. He emphasized that the initiative isn’t solely focused on governmental entities, but rather seeks to establish an enabling environment for private businesses to maintain operations uninterrupted. The Minister highlighted several private companies already operating continuously, citing visits to businesses as evidence. Dr Pelpuo explained that participating businesses are seeking specific requirements to sustain continuous operations, including reliable power supply, a critical element for uninterrupted business functions. He further elaborated that the government is actively working to provide essential requirements, such as a reliable power supply, to facilitate this sustained operational capacity.
