She described the incidents leading up to the alleged suffocation as occurring ‘during prolonged periods of abuse’, detailing a specific incident where her husband allegedly attempted to strangle her with a pillow while she was asleep. This event, according to the mother, occurred shortly after the discovery of alleged sexual abuse committed by her husband against her daughters, aged 12, 8, 6, and the youngest, aged 12.
According to Boakye, the marital disputes forced her to leave her home and return to her family, intensifying the abuse she described as ‘repeated and relentless’. She emphasized that the husband subjected her to a range of coercive and harmful behaviors, including what she termed ‘heat-inducing substances’ on his genitals, which caused her severe pain. This incident significantly escalated her concerns about the safety of her children, intensifying her anxiety and forcing her to return to the family home to verify the situation.
Madam Boakye further alleges that subsequent inquiries revealed that all four daughters had allegedly been subjected to sexual abuse by her husband. She stated that the children were also allegedly threatened with violence to prevent them from disclosing the incidents. The matter was reported to the Millennium City District Police Command, which subsequently arrested Emmanuel Ekumfi. He was subsequently arraigned before the Akweley Magistrate Court in Kasoa, facing charges related to the allegations.
The case remains in the judicial process, with investigations ongoing. The court has adjourned the case to September 15, 2026, and the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
