The Ghana Football Association (GFA) is currently engaged in a sustained effort to secure a suitable headline sponsor for the Ghana Premier League, a process that continues despite recent statements suggesting a potential delay in finalizing a deal. Speaking to the media following the 32nd Ordinary Congress, Vice President Mark Addo stated that the GFA’s marketing department remains actively pursuing potential commercial partnerships to bolster the league’s financial stability. While acknowledging the current lack of a formally designated headline sponsor, Addo emphasized that this does not indicate a cessation of commercial activity surrounding the competition. The GFA is pursuing multiple avenues, including strengthening media rights and television coverage, which, according to Addo, are currently generating substantial financial benefits for participating clubs. He explained that securing a strategic partnership is prioritized over rushing into agreements, stressing that the GFA’s primary objective is to identify a sponsor capable of delivering long-term value to the league. Adding to this, Addo asserted that the GFA is deliberately approaching sponsorship negotiations, arguing that securing the right partner is paramount to the league’s overall success and future. He stressed that Ghana Premier League represents the GFA’s most significant product, requiring a partner whose interests align with the league’s goals. Adding to this,Addo offered to refrain from providing a specific timeline for securing a deal, stating that efforts to identify a suitable partner remain ongoing, though he did not offer a concrete date. He concluded his remarks by reiterating the GFA’s commitment to finding a partner capable of providing meaningful benefits to the competition, with the 2026/27 season slated to begin on September 5th. The GFA has maintained that negotiations continue daily to identify the ideal sponsor for the league, highlighting the ongoing commitment to securing a valuable partnership for the Ghana Premier League.
