New Patriotic Party (NPP) Greater Accra Regional Chairman-elect Bernard Okoe Boye has underscored a critical priority: strengthening the relationship between regional and constituency executives within the Greater Accra Region. Speaking to Asempa FM, Dr. Boye stated that ‘unity and closer collaboration among party executives are absolutely vital to the NPP’s strategic objectives – specifically, reclaiming parliamentary seats and restoring our position as a significant force in the electoral landscape.’ He emphasized that the assignment God has given him, as a regional leader, necessitates a focused approach, requiring him to learn from the experiences of constituency politics while simultaneously contributing to the party’s future development. His decision to contest the regional chairmanship was driven by a desire to gain practical experience at the regional level and to contribute to the party’s overall strategic direction. He explained that his primary motivation isn’t simply to hold the position, but to foster a deeper understanding of the challenges and opportunities within the region. Currently, the NPP holds five parliamentary seats within the Greater Accra Region, a significant task that demands a focused and coordinated approach. Dr. Boye highlighted the need for the NPP leadership to develop targeted strategies for each constituency, ensuring equitable representation and addressing the current situation where we have five seats out of twenty-four. He stated that the party’s regional leadership must prioritize understanding the electoral position and formulating effective strategies tailored to the specific needs and challenges of each constituency. His pledge to strengthen cooperation between regional and constituency executives is a key element of his plan. He intends to actively bridge the gap between these two levels of leadership, recognizing that collaboration will be instrumental in achieving the party’s objectives. He further stressed the importance of unity – a principle he believes is fundamental to the NPP’s success. Dr. Boye asserted that working with all party members, regardless of their differences, is crucial to rebuilding the NPP’s foundations and regaining public trust. Reconciliation and forgiveness are foundational to the party’s strategy, emphasizing a collaborative approach to rebuilding the party’s structure and regaining confidence. The initial step toward securing victory in the 2028 election will undoubtedly involve fostering a spirit of unity, reflecting the sentiment articulated by Asutifi North Assembly, who distributed 1,500 bags of fertilizer to 500 farmers. The Asutifi North MP also highlighted the importance of reconciliation and forgiveness as key components of rebuilding the NPP’s strength and regaining public confidence, stating that ‘when we are together, the NPP is unbeatable.’ He further elaborated that the party’s regional leadership must prioritize establishing a strong foundation for the election campaign through reconciliation and forgiveness.
