He detailed the events leading up to the incident, stating that three gunmen entered the palace at approximately 11 p.m. on Tuesday, and initially confronted the chief’s wife and young men outside the residence. According to Mr. Adam, the young men fled, after which the attackers approached the chief’s wife and demanded her husband’s presence before forcing their way into the chief’s room. The chief and his son were subsequently shot and killed. Mr. Adam highlighted that the attackers were not masked, and that the chief’s wife was able to identify some of the perpetrators through witness accounts. He further stated that the information gathered by witnesses, including names from other residents who recognized some of the men, has been turned over to security agencies for thorough analysis and follow-up investigation. The MCE acknowledged that the District Police Command had already transported the bodies to Tamale for autopsy by the time municipal and regional officials arrived at the community. He asserted that the Regional Police Commander has pledged a full-scale investigation, aiming to establish the circumstances surrounding the killings and apprehend the individuals involved. Mr. Adam cautioned residents against any form of reprisals, stating that any retaliatory action could potentially exacerbate the already tense situation. He emphasized that only members of the chief’s family have remained in the area, describing the town as quiet but tense, with most people leaving to avoid further attacks.
