The Ebusa Dwarfs have secured a commanding victory in the Division One Super Cup, defeating Real Tamale United 4-0 in a match that has ignited considerable excitement across West Africa. The encounter, held yesterday at the Accra Sports Stadium, showcased a clear dominance from the Ghanaian side, marking a significant step forward for the Dwarfs in the competition. This result marks a crucial shift in the dynamics of the group stage, potentially impacting the race for a playoff spot.
Real Tamale United, traditionally a formidable opponent in the Super Cup, struggled to contain the Dwarfs’ relentless attacking pressure. The initial stages of the match were characterized by a tense defensive battle, with both teams exhibiting cautious tactics. However, the Dwarfs quickly began to assert their control, exploiting Real Tamale’s midfield’s vulnerability.
The first goal came in the 25th minute, a swift strike from forward Kwame Nkrumah that left Real Tamale’s defense completely exposed. The resulting goal sparked a surge of momentum for the Dwarfs, who continued to press relentlessly. After a brief respite, the Dwarfs doubled their lead in the 38th minute when a well-placed pass from center-back Samuel Acheampong found their striker, Felix Agyamek, who calmly slotted the ball past the Real Tamale goalkeeper. This goal provided a significant psychological boost to the Dwarfs, demonstrating their ability to convert chances.
Real Tamale United, however, fought valiantly, demonstrating flashes of resilience in their defensive structure. Their attempts to break down the Dwarfs’ attacking threat were largely unsuccessful, with the Dwarfs’ midfield consistently disrupting their progression.
The second goal came in the 62nd minute, a product of a brilliant dribbling move orchestrated by young winger, Isaac Mensah. Mensah, a key player for the Dwarfs, unleashed a powerful shot that found the back of the net, further solidifying the Dwarfs’ lead.
The third goal, scored in the 81st minute, was a testament to the Dwarfs’ clinical finishing. A deflected shot from Nkrumah, after a corner kick, found its way into the net, adding to the Dwarfs’ already impressive tally.
The fourth goal, the final nail in the coffin, came in the 88th minute. A tireless effort from defender, Kingsley Osei, culminated in a perfectly executed long-range shot, which was expertly directed into the net by a wide-reaching striker. This goal significantly reduced Real Tamale’s chances of securing a draw.
“We are incredibly pleased with the performance of our team today,” stated Mandela Yaw Anuvabe, 3Sports’ journalist and sports writer. “The Dwarfs’ attacking prowess and resilience were key to their victory. It’s a significant step for us and a testament to the hard work of our players and coaching staff.”
Real Tamale United, while disappointed with the result, acknowledged the Dwarfs’ strong performance.
