In Israel, the Board of Peace continues to advance an action plan for Gaza and is carefully determining the timing of its steps and public statements ahead of the elections. A source in the body told i24News diplomatic correspondent Guy Azriel about this, the Jerusalem Post reports.
The source said that the Board of Peace is not abandoning the plan but is not disclosing all details of its work. According to the source, the body also did not publish daily updates during negotiations with Hamas.
The source noted that the Board of Peace is acting strategically, choosing when to take certain steps and when to make statements. The stated goal is the successful implementation of the plan: the entry of a Palestinian technocratic administration into Gaza, the start of demilitarization, and the full transfer of power. The timing of these steps was not disclosed.
According to the source, the plan continues to advance despite Israeli military operations, including a recent attempt to kill Hamas leader in Gaza Ali al-Amoudi.

Earlier, Azriel, citing a senior Israeli security source, reported that Hamas is feeling increasing pressure. This source claimed that the group has fewer weapons, uses non-standard equipment, and that some of its fighters lack the capability for offensive actions.
According to the Israeli source, operations against Hamas infrastructure, weapons depots, and production facilities are continuing in order to prevent the group from rebuilding its capabilities. The Israel Defense Forces confirmed a strike on al-Amoudi on Saturday, but said that the results of the attack were still being assessed. The military did not confirm his death.
Separately, an Israeli source, citing data presented to the security cabinet by military intelligence chief Shlomi Binder, said that 4,000 of the 6,000 people who infiltrated Israel from Gaza on October 7 had been killed.
