Volta Regional Director of NADMO, Pascal Agbagba, reported that floodwaters in the Hohoe Municipality of the Volta Region are decreasing. Approximately 3,000 residents have been displaced following the overflow of the River Dayi, resulting in more than 400 homes being impacted. A significant portion of the Zongo community has been submerged, and over half of the population has fled their homes. NADMO established safe havens at Adabraka and Nima Mosques, housing over 270 displaced individuals. Approximately 100 mattresses, 50 bags of rice, and cooking oil have been provided as immediate aid. Mr. Agbagba noted that the Ghana National Fire Service is assisting with water provision, highlighting the challenge of access to clean water in affected areas. He stated that the situation is ongoing with the organization assessing the full extent of the affected communities and is preparing additional supplies following a broader assessment.
