The United States has announced the expulsion of two members of the Iranian delegation that took part in the UN General Assembly in New York. According to the US State Department, the Iranian representatives remained in the country after being ordered to leave.
A US official told Channel NewsAsia that two members of the delegation were found in New York after the UN General Assembly had ended. According to him, they were expelled from the United States, and Secretary of State Marco Rubio takes compliance with such requirements seriously.
US media previously reported that the State Department on Monday ordered Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi and his delegation to leave the United States. The department proceeded with the expulsion of the two representatives after Iran's mission to the UN said that they were still in the country on Friday.

According to Axios, one member of the Iranian delegation left the United States on Friday evening, while the second left on Saturday morning. A week earlier, US and Iranian officials met in New York on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly.
US President Donald Trump rejected Tehran's proposal to open the Strait of Hormuz, but told US media that he expects talks to resume in the coming days. Iranian state agency IRNA reported that Tehran has no direct talks with Washington planned.
