The Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC) has directed Colleges of Education across the country to commence admissions for the 2026/2027 academic year with immediate effect, despite delays in approving the new fees structure.
In a letter dated September 30, 2026, and addressed to principals of the colleges, the Commission said it had observed that admissions had yet to begin because approval of the fees for the upcoming academic year was still pending.
GTEC Director-General, Professor Ahmed Jinapor Abdulai, instructed the institutions to proceed with the admission process while the Commission works with the Minister for Education to secure approval of the 2026/2027 fees.
In the interim, the colleges are to apply the approved fees for the 2025/2026 academic year.
The Commission explained that the fees would be subject to review once the relevant authorities approve the new structure for the 2026/2027 academic year.
GTEC said it was counting on the cooperation of the college principals to ensure that the admission process begins without further delay.
