Police in Liverpool arrested over 50 people protesting in support of the banned Palestine Action group outside a Labour Party conference on Sunday. The local Merseyside Police stated the arrests were made following the group’s organization, which was proscribed as a ‘terrorist’ group by the Labour government in July 2025 under the Terrorism Act. Police respected the right to lawful protest while ensuring public safety, leading to dozens of arrests after protesters displayed signs supporting Palestine Action. Several protesters expressed frustration with the arrests and highlighted the suffering of people in Gaza, while one protester stated that it was a vital tool to expose government inaction and call for justice. Activists also confronted Foreign Secretary Ed Miliband inside a restaurant, demanding he lift the ban on Palestine Action and declare Israel’s genocide in Gaza.
