New Patriotic Party (NPP) National Organiser hopeful and former Greater Accra Regional Minister, Daniel Titus-Glover, has revealed a recent setback in his campaign team’s journey, disclosing that they experienced an accident while traveling from Atebubu to Kumasi in the Ashanti Region. According to Mr. Glover, the incident occurred on Thursday, disrupting planned activities and requiring immediate attention to the campaign team’s operations.
The accident involved a pickup vehicle, one of which suffered a tyre-related fault, causing it to veer off the road and into the bush. The vehicle’s trajectory led to a significant deviation from the intended route, resulting in a collision with vegetation. Mr. G Glover stated that the convoy comprised a security vehicle and an operational vehicle, with his Director of Operations, Prince Kumah, also joining the team. He explained that the convoy was leading the campaign convoy, with the 3 vehicles being a security vehicle and an operational vehicle, with his vehicle in front, and 2 pickups following.
“We were coming from Atebubu to Kumasi,” Mr. G Glover recounted, “We had 3 vehicles; my vehicle was in front, and we had 2 pickups,” he said. He further elaborated that the convoy comprised a security vehicle and an operational vehicle, with his Director of Operations, Prince Kumah, also joining the team. The team received a distress call while on the road informing them that one of the vehicles had lost a tyre and subsequently veered off the road.”
Mr. G Glover expressed gratitude that the incident did not result in any injuries, noting that the affected vehicle has since been moved to a safe location and will be repaired before resuming its activities. “We have been able to move it to a safe place. We will repair it as required and continue with our campaign,” he stated. The incident comes barely a week after a similar incident occurred in the Oti Region, raising concerns about the campaign’s stability.
Despite this setback, Mr. G Glover asserted that the campaign remains on course, particularly as he prepares to engage delegates across the Ashanti Region. He revealed that he met the Ashanti Regional NPP executives on Wednesday night and described the reception as overwhelming. “I met with the Ashanti regional executives on Wednesday night and the reception was overwhelming,” he said. He added that his focus would now shift to direct engagement with delegates as he seeks their support in his bid to become the party’s next National Organiser. “So it is time to go down to the delegates,” he said.”
The incident underscores a heightened level of caution within the campaign team, highlighting the potential risks associated with extensive travel and logistical operations, and adds to the overall concerns surrounding the party’s operational continuity.
