The Asutifi South District Assembly in the Ahafo Region has achieved a significant milestone in its Internal Generated Funds (IGF) mobilization, exceeding its annual target by a substantial amount within the first six months of 2026. The Assembly has recorded a remarkable 58% of its target, bringing the total IGF collected to GH¢1,447,317.87, representing a considerable increase from the previous year’s figures. The Assembly’s initial target for IGF was set at GH¢2.5 million, and as of June 30th, 2026, they have successfully mobilized over half of this goal, demonstrating a proactive approach to financial management. District Chief Executive (DCE), Benjamin Assabil Donkor, confirmed the Assembly’s progress in an interview with Adom News, following the Assembly’s general meeting. He stated that previously, the Assembly faced challenges in consistently raising sufficient internal revenue, but this has been significantly improved following the implementation of new revenue collection strategies. Mr. Donkor highlighted that the Assembly has actively engaged with the community through public education initiatives to foster a greater understanding of how taxes and other payments contribute to community development.
To bolster its financial stability, the Assembly has established a dedicated task force tasked with regularly visiting communities and conducting follow-up on unpaid revenues. This initiative is designed to ensure timely collection of taxes and levies. The task force has been tasked with establishing a continuous monitoring system.
The Presiding Member of the Assembly, Alhassan Mohammed, commended the Assembly members for their dedicated efforts in strengthening revenue mobilization. He emphasized the importance of continued support for the Assembly’s IGF initiatives to accelerate development across the district. He also expressed optimism that with the implemented measures and continued cooperation from residents, the Assembly will achieve its target of GH¢2.5 million IGF for 2026.
