The Accra Circuit Court has granted viral Black Stars supporter, Kailani Ibrahim Kpa, popularly known as ‘Powder Man,’ GH¢400,000 bail in connection with an alleged visa fraud case. The case, initially reported by Adom Online, centers around allegations that he collected money from several individuals after promising to facilitate their travel to Canada, the United States, and Nicaragua. The court granted him bail with three sureties, with one required to be a guarantor and the other two being close family relatives. The case has been adjourned to September 28, 2026. According to the allegations before the court, Ibrahim collected more than US$30,000 from over 13 individuals after promising to arrange their travel. The arrangements allegedly failed to materialize, following which Ibrahim is said to have gone into hiding. There are also separate claims involving another US$50,000, although the exact circumstances surrounding that amount would need to be established as the case proceeds. The allegations have not been proven in court. Before his court appearance, Ibrahim addressed the matter in a social media post, insisting that he had voluntarily gone to the police station. He wrote, “I am the one who went to the police station; nobody came & arrested me,” and sought to explain his involvement with the money, stating he had transferred funds to travel agents. “I’m mentioning all the agents I gave money to so that they will know nothing is with me. It’s part of life. I never stole from anyone.” Some individuals who claim to have paid money to Ibrahim have also publicly spoken about their experiences. One alleged victim claimed he sold his car after being advised by Ibrahim to do so, but was later told to wait for another visa arrangement. Amounts reportedly mentioned by some of the alleged victims range between US$8,500 and US$9,200. These claims are yet to be tested through the court process. Ibrahim became widely known during the 2026 FIFA World Cup after videos of him supporting Ghana’s Black Stars while spraying white powder went viral. His distinctive celebrations earned him the nickname ‘Powder Man’ and made him one of the tournament’s most recognizable Ghanaian supporters. He subsequently said he had personally financed his trip to the tournament and had run out of money while following the Black Stars. Ibrahim is expected to return to court on September 28, 2026, as proceedings in the alleged visa fraud case continue.
