The IGP Special Operations Team (SOT) has executed a coordinated, intelligence-led anti-narcotics operation across various districts of the Ashanti Region, resulting in the arrests of seven suspects on Thursday, August 20, 2026. The SOT recovered a significant number of items during the operations, including pill pouches suspected to contain dried leaves, quantities of Tramadol 225mg and 250mg, Royal 255mg and Rophynol 100mg, and 860 tablets and capsules of Tramadol, all suspected to be unregistered narcotics.
The recovered items represent a substantial financial loss, with an unspecified amount of Ghanaian currency also seized. All seven suspects are currently in police custody and assisting with investigations. The SOT is actively working to identify the source of the substances, determine the extent of their involvement, and trace any additional individuals connected to the suspected activities.
