Exclusive: Busta Rhymes has reached a landmark settlement of $6 million with former assistant Dashiel Gables, effectively ending a protracted and costly legal battle centering around wage claims and allegations of abuse at work. The agreement, finalized after a lengthy court fight, involves a payment of $25,000 to Gables, structured as two payments of $12,500, with half designated as wages and the remaining portion covering the remaining balance. The agreement, detailed in a court document released today, marks a significant shift in the dynamics of the case, which began in July 2024 and has been ongoing since January 2025. Busta Rhymes, representing himself, secured the settlement through legal counsel, with Trevor Smith, Busta’s legal name, and Starbus LLC, along with Conglomerate Entertainment, serving as the primary parties involved. The money, representing a substantial sum, was initially agreed upon in early 2024, but the terms were finalized following a protracted negotiation process. Gables, who worked as Busta’s personal assistant from approximately July 2024 until January 2025, has been the subject of numerous allegations, notably concerning a reported incident involving a punch inside a Brooklyn building on January 10, 2025. The alleged altercation involved work, a late food order, and Gables’ phone after his daughter attempted to reach him. The case has escalated significantly since Gables accused Busta of aggressive behavior, claiming he repeatedly punched him several times. The allegations included claims of verbal abuse, threats, and a hostile work environment, leading to a period of intense scrutiny and potential legal repercussions for Busta. Furthermore, the allegations centered around alleged clogged toilets and other assistant-related incidents, including accusations of Gables interfering with Busta’s work and attempting to clear a toilet with a bare hand. Busta vehemently denied these claims, stating that they originated after a failed and short-lived working relationship. The case ultimately culminated in a federal court ruling in New York, leading to the demise of the two-way legal confrontation. The new agreement dictates that Gables must drop the lawsuit for good, preventing any further claims of wrongdoing, and relinquish all claims related to his former employment with Busta Rhymes. The document also stipulates that Gables must return private work records tied to his job, demonstrating that the $25,000 payment is not a resolution but rather a formal acknowledgment of the financial obligation. Busta and Gables initially signed the agreement on May 27, 2026, making it a legally binding written record of the terms. The court remains obligated to approve the final terms before the case can fully close, ensuring the complete resolution of the matter. The agreement’s implications suggest a significant shift in the legal landscape, potentially impacting Busta Rhymes’ reputation and business relationships. The full details of the settlement are available in the court documents, which are accessible on the court’s website. Further updates will be provided as the case progresses.
