The Assemblies of God, Ghana has formally re-elected Rev. Stephen Yenusom Wengam as its General Superintendent, a decision confirmed following a robust election held during the church’s 32nd Biennial General Council Meeting at Gomoa Fetteh in the Central Region on August 21, 2026. This momentous event signifies a continuation of Wengam’s leadership and a commitment to the church’s ongoing mission within Ghana. The election saw a remarkable turnout, with nearly 90 per cent of the 4,166 valid votes cast, defeating Rev. Dr. Kwame B. Bansah, who secured 432 votes representing 10.39 per cent of the total. Rev. Wengam, who is also the Head Pastor of the Cedar Mountain Chapel at East Legon in Accra, garnered a substantial 3,727 votes, representing 89.61 per cent, surpassing the 432 votes received by Rev. Dr. Kwame B. Bansah. The election returned Wengam to office for a further four-year term, completing the selection process for the church’s top leadership team. The process involved the election of new Assistant General Superintendent, General Secretary, and General Treasurer, ensuring a continued leadership structure focused on strategic growth and operational excellence. The election returned seven ballots, representing a total of 4,159 valid votes cast, a significant number that significantly exceeded the total of 4,166. Notably, Rev. Dr. Kwadwo Bempah of Holy Hill Chapel in the Adabraka District of Accra West Region was elected Assistant General Superintendent, while Rev. Dr. Albert Anane of the Father’s House in Koforidua in Eastern Region ‘A’ emerged as the new General Secretary. Rev. Simon Abu Baba of the Central Chapel in Mim retained his position as General Treasurer after a successful and unopposed contest, while Rev. Esther Oduro Dwomo was elected National Women’s Ministries Director, and Mr. Silas Amankwaah was retained as National Men’s Ministry Director, unopposed. The event witnessed the appointment of new officers, including Rev. Boniface Keelson as the Foreign Missions Director, and Rev. Aaron Lambon Fant, hailed as the ‘Best Church Planter’ at the event, now serving as the new Home Missions Director. The acceptance remarks from Rev.
