TAAG, a Ghanaian organization dedicated to combating Neglected Tropical Diseases (NTDs), has launched a crucial business management training programme for twenty individuals residing with Neglected Tropical Diseases (NTDs) in the Asunafo North Municipality of the Ahafo Region. This initiative represents a significant step towards empowering beneficiaries and fostering sustainable livelihoods within the community. The programme, which commenced in Goaso, aims to equip these twenty individuals with the essential skills and knowledge required to effectively manage their businesses and improve their economic prospects.
The training, meticulously designed and delivered by TAAG’s experienced team, focuses heavily on financial management, a critical component for the success of any business venture. Specifically, the curriculum emphasizes the understanding of crucial financial principles, including proper record-keeping, sound financial decision-making, and risk mitigation. Speaking to Adom News, Executive Director Isaac Kwabena Kakpeibe highlighted the importance of this training, stating that TAAG intends to provide the beneficiaries with micro-grants to bolster their existing businesses.
He explained that the training’s core objective is to ensure that beneficiaries are adequately prepared to handle funds responsibly, preventing potential misuse and safeguarding their economic stability. The programme’s content spans a broad range of financial management topics, including budgeting, cash flow forecasting, and tax compliance – all vital for the sustainable operation of a business. Mr. Kakpeibe emphasized the need for this training to enable beneficiaries to sustain their businesses and achieve greater financial independence, directly addressing the challenges many individuals with NTDs face.
Furthermore, the Planning Officer of the Asunafo North Municipal Assembly, Shakron Lamini, lauded TAAG’s commitment to supporting the Assembly’s efforts to improve the welfare of persons living with NTDs. She described the training as a highly beneficial intervention, stating that it will strengthen the businesses of beneficiaries, fostering a greater sense of self-reliance and contributing to reducing dependence on external support. The training will undoubtedly play a vital role in empowering individuals with NTDs to become economically active and contribute meaningfully to their communities.
