This decision follows a lengthy legal battle initiated by Oppong Nkrumah, who argues that the Chief Justice’s directive to continue trials violates Article 17(1), (2), and 296(a) and (b) of the 1992 Constitution, specifically targeting certain criminal cases for continuation during the vacation. Oppong Nkrumah filed a substantive suit at the Supreme Court challenging the Chief Justice’s administrative warrants, directing High Court judges to continue hearing criminal proceedings during the legal vacation.
