The report details a nationwide payroll audit conducted in 2025 that resulted in the recovery of approximately GH¢10 million out of a total of GH¢150.36 million in unearned salaries, allowances, and other financial irregularities linked to 2,408 separated staff. The Audit Service has stated that the recovery represents a significant step forward in strengthening financial accountability.
Specifically, the Service recovered an additional GH¢14.95 million in unearned salaries and irregular payments through routine audits conducted across the country. This recovery was facilitated through policy review processes and decisions on high-profile corruption allegations contributed by CHRAJ and the Office of the President. The audit revealed that the Recovery of GH¢10.00 million out of GH¢150.36 million in unearned salaries, allowances, and other financial irregularities linked to 2,408 separated staff is a crucial element in strengthening Ghana’s public financial management systems.
