Master P is finalizing a strategic pivot away from the Snoop Cereal venture, moving his breakfast business toward healthier options through Miller Family Foods, a move that’s been brewing for some time. During an interview on Forbes’ ‘The Enterprise Zone’ podcast, Master P, known for his work with Snoop Dogg, explained that the cereal venture he built with the rapper has been unsuccessful due to trademark issues and distribution problems that made it nearly impossible to maintain product availability on store shelves. ‘We got over it, then we all moved on,’ Master P stated, noting that the market’s appetite for healthier options has shifted significantly,’ highlighting a broader trend toward more nutritious breakfast choices. The pivot to Miller Family Foods, which began in 2024, represents a complete rethinking of Master P’s breakfast strategy. Rather than attempting to revive the Snoop Cereal concept, Master P is constructing an entire line of health-conscious alternatives, including oatmeal, breakfast bars, pancakes, and waffles, alongside the new cereal offering. All products are meticulously crafted without artificial preservatives, hydrogenated oils, high-fructose corn syrup, artificial sweeteners, GMOs, and other ingredients that consumers actively avoid. ‘More healthy cereal’ is what customers want, Master P emphasized, and that’s the lane he’s now occupying,’ emphasizing the core focus of the new venture. The original Snoop Cereal journey started as Snoop Loopz before a trademark dispute forced a name change. Broadus Foods partnered with Post Consumer Brands to manufacture and distribute the product nationally, rolling out flavors like Fruity Hoopz with Marshmallows, Cinnamon Toasteez, and Frosted Drizzlerz. The partnership was initially envisioned as a Black ownership and diversity initiative in grocery aisles, but it quickly fell apart. In February 2024, Broadus Foods sued Post and Walmart, alleging the companies deliberately kept product off shelves and limited availability. Master P’s broader mission around economic freedom and building shelf space for Black-owned brands remains intact, but the execution of this new venture is changing. Miller Family Foods carries his family name and positions him as the face of the company rather than a celebrity co-founder, which gives him more control over the product strategy and retail relationships. Master P hasn’t announced whether his longtime collaborator will be part of the Miller Family Foods cereal launch, but the messaging suggests this is a solo venture. The podcast interview indicates a focus on Miller Family Foods as a distinct entity, separating it from the Snoop Cereal legacy. The full details of the partnership with Post Consumer Brands remain to be seen, but the shift in Master P’s strategy suggests a significant departure from his previous breakfast pursuits.
