Adamus Resources Limited has issued a formal challenge to the revocation of its mining leases by Minister Emmanuel Koffa, asserting the decision is unlawful and inconsistent with Ghana’s established mining laws. The statement, released on Monday, August 10, 2026, follows a recent decision by the Minister to uphold a prior revocation following a review conducted by a Ministerial Review Committee. The review, established to consider Adamus Resources’ appeals, confirmed several breaches of the Minerals and Mining Act, 2006 (Act 703), according to the company’s official statement. This action follows a contentious meeting between Minister Koffa and Adamus Resources, where the Minister subsequently upheld the revocation. The Lands Minister, during a working visit to the Adamus Mine in Salman, Ellembelle District, confirmed a significant portion of the initial findings of the review committee’s assessment. The Minerals Commission was directed to assume full management and operations of the mine, a move that has been met with considerable resistance from Adamus Resources. The company vehemently denies the allegations used to justify the revocation, characterizing them as ‘unfounded, contrived, and deliberately manufactured.’ Adamus Resources alleges that the Minister is abusing his authority and disregarding the law in arriving at this decision. In a detailed statement, the company stated that the Minister’s actions constitute a blatant violation of established legal precedents within Ghana’s mining framework. The company is currently evaluating its options and intends to formally announce its intended course of action – including a formal challenge – within the coming days. The Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources has stated that the decision was made following a thorough review by the review committee. The Minerals and Mining Act, 2006 (Act 703), outlines the legal framework governing mining operations in Ghana, and this challenge represents a significant escalation in the dispute. The legal ramifications of this decision are substantial, potentially impacting the company’s ability to continue mining operations. Experts estimate that the company’s mining operations contribute significantly to the national economy, representing approximately 15% of Ghana’s total mineral output. The Minister has defended the decision, asserting the review committee’s findings are conclusive and the Minister is acting within his authority to protect the interests of the state. The legal implications of this dispute are complex, and the situation remains highly volatile, with Adamus Resources asserting its right to challenge the decision and the Lands Minister maintaining the revocation’s validity. The Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources has stated that they are committed to ensuring compliance with the law and will continue monitoring the situation closely. The review committee’s report detailed several breaches identified in the initial assessment, including unauthorized land clearing and environmental violations. Further investigation is underway to fully assess the extent of these breaches and their potential impact on the environment.” , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , ,
