One of the apprehended individuals, Nasiru Abdul Rahman, a 52-year-old man, sustained critical injuries during the operation and tragically passed away at the Upper West Regional Hospital on August 11, 2026. Police confirmed that the suspects were linked to a string of robberies that have plagued the region, including incidents occurring on August 1st, June 19th, and June 15th within Kpenateng Junction, Kulkpara Dapoha, and Kpenateng Community, respectively. These attacks, previously reported, have been attributed to the syndicate’s deliberate targeting of vulnerable individuals and communities.
The investigation points to a complex network of coordinated criminal activity, with the gang allegedly utilizing machetes as weapons to coerce victims into surrendering their Mobile Money PINs.
