The Ashanti Regional Security Council (REGSEC) has initiated a comprehensive investigation into the violent disturbances occurring at Obuasi Senior High Technical School on Wednesday, August 5, 2026. Ashanti Regional Minister, Dr Frank Amoakohene, has issued a stern warning to anyone found culpable following the investigation, emphasizing the full extent of the legal consequences. The Headmaster of Obuasi Senior High Technical School, Abdullai Zakari, is currently hospitalized following an assault by students, resulting in property damage and disruption to campus operations. The incident was triggered by allegations that the headmaster had buried the body of a baby on the school premises, leading to a protest that escalated into vandalism of school property and items. Six students have been apprehended by the police to assist with investigations into the disturbances, marking a significant escalation in the situation. REGSEC’s intervention is attributed to the seriousness of the situation, demanding accountability and ensuring justice is served swiftly. The Regional Security Council has taken over the matter, designating dedicated resources to address the unrest and maintain order at the school.
