Engaged in the 47th edition of the African Handball Clubs Champions Championship (Cacc) taking place from October 5 to 14, 2026 in Angola, the men’s and women’s teams of Flowers-Cnss are showing their ambitions. This is with a methodical journey and rigorous squad management under the presidency of Charles Toko. After two days of competition, the Beninese club remains steadfast for a remarkable continuation.
Having made its entry into the competition against the defending champions of Petro Atlético, the women’s team of the Caisse nationale de sécurité sociale (Cnss) club measured itself against the high continental level. Despite an opening setback against the Angolans on the score of 37 to 20, with a score of 24 to 12 at halftime, the Beninese formation quickly corrected the situation. From the second outing scheduled yesterday, Wednesday, October 7, at the Paulo Bunze in Luanda, the Champions of Benin signed a precious success. It was against another Angolan formation, that of Casa Lobito. Leading at the break with a two-goal lead, namely 13 to 11, Régina Gbary and her teammates maintained their grip to seal a 25 to 21 victory. This collective reaction was accompanied by an individual distinction for Haïdara Latifatou, named best player of the match. Resting today, Thursday, October 8, the women’s group is preparing for its appointment on Friday, October 9, against the Congolese of Héritage with the objective of validating its rise to the heights of the tournament.
A men’s team in rational management mode
On the men’s section side, the start of the competition proved convincing against the Ivorians of Renaissance Don Bosco. The vice-champions of Benin mastered their subject by winning on the score of 28 to 20, after returning to the locker room with a 14 to 11 advantage. In the goals, goalkeeper Solomon Mickaël Agbadji distinguished himself by winning the MVP title of the match. Opposed next to the defending champion, the Egyptian giant Al Ahly, the men led by Malick Tagaly and young Siaka Diomandé lost 44 to 19 at the end of a demanding match against the continental ogre. The 2024 African vice-champions approach the continuation of the competition this day, Thursday, October 8, against the Rwandans of Apr Hc with intact weapons. Indeed, the technical staff applies a studied rotation of its workforce by adapting the match sheet according to the typology of the opponents. This strategic choice guarantees the physical freshness of the key players during decisive clashes. The formation chaired by Charles Toko intends to do better than two years ago (2024) and aims for a simultaneous presence of its two teams in the final four of this African rendezvous. Already, the initial results demonstrate the strong ambitions of a team that has only lost matches against the continental title holders (Petro Atlético and Al Ahly), recognized as the ogres of the continent. And the continuation promises high-quality results.
