During an APK analysis, Android Authority discovered a Gemini Calling introductory screen that may indicate a possible expansion of Google’s AI feature Call for Me to calls to friends and relatives. As The Verge reports, Google has not yet announced such an update.
Examples of commands on the Gemini Calling screen include a request to call one’s mother and say that the user will be 15 minutes late, as well as to call John and ask whether he will come to dinner.
These examples indicate that Gemini will likely be intended for simple calls with short messages, similar in content to text messages. The AI is unlikely to conduct a full conversation with relatives on the user’s behalf. The feature could be useful for people who prefer calls, often miss text messages, or use a landline phone.

Android Authority also reported discovering detailed permissions for Gemini actions in individual apps, including settings related to phone calls. They may allow users to choose which app capabilities Gemini will have access to and potentially opt out of automated incoming calls.
At the same time, Android Authority notes that Google may not publicly release either this expansion of Call for Me or the separate Gemini permission settings.
