A major fire has broken out at Kofikrom within the North Kaneshie Industrial Area enclave in Accra.
The fire, which reportedly started around 7:30 a.m. on Thursday, continues to spread, forcing residents and traders to flee for their lives as the intense heat engulfs the area.
The blaze, which is close to Duraplast and near the ECG Avenor office, has sent people scrambling to salvage what they can.
Vendors were seen hurriedly carting their goods away while others who live in kiosks in the vicinity rushed out after spotting the flames early.
An eyewitness speaking on Adom FM’s Dwaso Nsem said he saw one woman who had been burnt. According to him, the woman lives at the location with a group of people.
Despite the intensity of the fire, electricity supply to the area has not been cut off.
Firefighters are currently on the ground to contain the spreading flames, but the situation remains serious as the fire continues to gain ground.
The cause of the fire and the full extent of the damage are still unclear. Further updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
