Two children, including a toddler, are reported to have died in an early morning fire in Avenor, one of Accra’s industrial areas, on Thursday, October 1.
MyJoyOnline understands that their parents were unable to reach them through the flames to save their lives. The deaths are yet to be officially confirmed.
A JoyNews reporter, Stephen Mensah, who reported from the scene, added that firefighters arrived in the area but faced difficulties reaching the affected properties because there were no accessible roads leading to the site.
Crews are continuing efforts to bring the blaze under control.
Residents say the fire is consuming their properties, including livestock, with the intensity of the flames leaving them unable to intervene or retrieve their belongings.
The cause of the fire and the full extent of the damage remain unclear at the time of filing this report.
This story will be updated as more information becomes available.
