The National Democratic Congress (NDC) Regional Organiser for the Oti Region has issued a crucial message urging unity among its aspiring constituency executives, emphasizing the importance of maintaining party cohesion throughout and after the rigorous vetting process currently underway. Sulemana Mumuni, the Regional Organiser, made this appeal in an interview with Adom News, during the ongoing evaluation of 55 aspirants who are vying for various constituency executive positions in the upcoming 2028 general elections. The Oti Region, a historically significant area within the NDC’s electoral landscape, is facing intense competition for the coveted constituency positions.
Mumuni stressed the party’s longstanding dedication to democratic principles, a sentiment that underscores the significance of preserving unity amongst its members. He stated, ‘The NDC has always been committed to upholding democratic principles, and it is imperative that we maintain unity throughout this process. The internal elections are a crucial opportunity for the party to solidify its foundations and ensure its continued success.’
His statement comes as the vetting process continues, a critical phase where aspirants are evaluated for their suitability to represent the constituency. Mumuni underscored the importance of a smooth, transparent, and credible vetting process, assuring aspirants that the party is prepared to facilitate this. One aspirant, identified as Kwame Adu, shared his vision: ‘We need to have confidence in our leadership and allow the people to vote for those who will represent their interests effectively. Another aspirant, identified as Abena Nkosi, remarked, ‘The Oti Region needs strong leadership. We need to have the confidence that our elected officials will dedicate themselves to serving the people and improving the lives of all residents.’ She also underscored the potential impact of the constituency’s success on the NDC’s overall electoral performance.
The vetting process, which began earlier this week, is expected to continue for several weeks. The NDC is keen to ensure that all aspirants are adequately prepared to contribute to the party’s electoral strategy. Mumuni reiterated the importance of unity and collaboration within the party, stating, ‘We must work together to ensure a successful and unified electoral campaign for the Oti Region.
