The Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET), a cornerstone of professional engineering in Ghana, has officially welcomed over 130 new engineers into its ranks, marking a significant milestone in the nation’s engineering sector. The induction ceremony, held under the theme ‘Engineering Ghana’s Future: Innovation, Integrity, and Sustainable Development,’ brought together a diverse audience of engineers, industry experts, and dignitaries. The event, a cornerstone of the IET’s commitment to fostering talent and bolstering Ghana’s technological landscape, underscored the crucial role engineering plays in the country’s progress. The ceremony was orchestrated by the IET, a registered and licensed professional engineering body under the Engineering Council-Ghana, reflecting their dedication to upholding the highest standards of practice. The IET’s mission extends beyond technical expertise, emphasizing a profound responsibility to the profession and the public. Speaking at the event, Registrar of the Engineering Council-Ghana, Ing. Isaac Bedu, delivered a stark warning – a caution against engaging in unlicensed practice. He emphasized that practicing without the requisite professional license constitutes a serious violation of the law, potentially leading to legal ramifications, including prosecution and substantial penalties, up to a two-year imprisonment.
