The truck, a MAN diesel model registered GW 3136-14, reportedly experienced a sudden brake failure while traversing the highway, a situation that triggered a series of unfortunate events.
The driver’s mate, Abdul Malik, provided crucial details of the incident, stating that the driver was unable to control the vehicle after the brakes failed. He attempted to halt the truck, attempting to park it, but was ultimately unsuccessful. This maneuver, he explained, led to a series of collisions involving a Rhino vehicle and other private cars. The incident occurred on the Amasaman–Nsawam road, highlighting a concerning trend of deteriorating vehicle condition across the region.
Adding to the mounting pressure, Adom News reporter Prince Owusu Asiedu observed a disconcerting pattern along the road, noting several vehicles left unattended along the roadside, a situation that significantly increases the risk of accidents, particularly for drivers navigating high-speed routes or during periods of diminished visibility. These unattended vehicles, as reported by residents, represent a serious hazard to motorists. Specifically, one vehicle, identified as a Toyota Corolla, was left unaddressed for several hours, creating potential dangers for drivers travelling at high speed.

The Motor Traffic and Transport Department (MTTD) and the National Road Safety Authority (NRSA) are being urged to intensify their inspections and checks on all vehicles operating on the highways. They are strongly advocating for the safe removal of vehicles exhibiting mechanical faults from major roads, prioritizing the safety of all road users. The NRSA has emphasized the need for regular maintenance to prevent avoidable accidents, stressing the importance of proactive measures.

Teacher unions are demanding automatic salary adjustments for newly promoted teachers, while Zanetor has voiced concerns about exploring alternative, less damaging methods for plastic alternatives, potentially leveraging hemp and cassava farming.
