A Ghanaian High Court has reversed the takeover of the Oxford No. 1 Hotel, owned by business mogul and politician Nana Kwame Bediako, commonly known as Cheddar, widely known as ‘The Lion King’. The court issued an order directing Cola Holdings, appointed as receiver, to hand back the keys to the No.1 Oxford hotel in Osu, Accra, with immediate effect, according to a report shared by GHOne TV on Facebook on Friday, August 21, 2026.
The case centers on an alleged debt of $14.9 million tied to the Oxford Street Hotel, one of Accra’s prominent hospitality properties. The High Court granted the company and its appointed Receiver in Ghana, Nii Amanor Dodoo, a warrant of police assistance.
The Cheddar’s legal team, led by lawyer Bobby Banson, later filed an appeal against the enforcement of the $14.9 million judgment debt, which the High Court dismissed, paving the way for the Oxford No. 1 hotel’s takeover by the UK-based company.
However, in the latest development, the High Court has found that the manner in which the takeover was executed did not comply with the relevant court rules, prompting the reversal of the receivership action and the immediate return of the property to the New Force leader.
