Natalie Harp, a 35-year-old special assistant and executive assistant to President Donald Trump, has rapidly emerged as a significant figure in the political landscape, captivating attention with her unwavering loyalty and close proximity to the former President. Her role within the Trump White House is characterized by a deliberate focus on disseminating positive news coverage for Mr. Trump’s consumption, a practice that has generated considerable scrutiny and debate. The emergence of Harp’s prominence was notably amplified during a Sunday rally in Georgia, where Sen. Jon Ossoff, a Democrat running for reelection, highlighted her role in Trump’s preference for reading physical social media posts rather than off-screen content. This observation prompted a direct question from the President, ‘You mean Pee Wee Herman? Peewee Herman look-alike?’
Harp’s tenure within the Trump campaigns spans a considerable period, beginning in 2020 and extending through 2024. As a presidential appointee, she initially began working at the White House as a presidential appointee when Trump took office in January 2025. The White House has expressed concern over her loyalty, labeling her as one of the most dedicated and hardworking aides on the team. In a 2024 New York Times article, the White House Communications Director, Stephen Cheung, stated that the president remarked, “All of you will go off and make money. She’ll never leave me.”
Early in her career, Harp was employed by the New York Times as a presidential appointee, working on the Trump campaign in 2020 and 2024. She has been a frequent subject of scrutiny, as detailed in the New York Times’ 2023 report, documenting her transportation in a catering truck and subsequent secret plane flight to Turkey in July. The Secret Service adopted the ruse to protect the President after U.S. intelligence detected a possible Iranian plot to fire a missile at his plane as he left Ankara. Only a few others joined the secret flight, including Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth and White House aides Walt Nauta and Dan Scavino. Several top Cabinet members were left on the decoy plane along with other staff and the press corps.
Harp’s work at One America News Network (OAN) from 2021 to 2022 involved hosting a TV show focused on the president’s right to try Act, a 2018 federal law that allows patients with life-threatening illnesses to try experimental treatments. The show repeatedly echoed Trump’s false claims regarding the 2020 election, a claim that has been widely disputed by election officials.
In 2020, Harp delivered a laudatory speech at the Republican National Convention, detailing her signing of the Right to Try Act. She then credited Mr. Trump with saving her life, stating that he had ‘done’ it. However, the Washington Post reported that Harp has also spoken of being treated with an FDA-approved immunotherapy given off-label, which would not have required ‘right to try’ since it was already approved for some uses.
Harp, a California native, earned her bachelor’s degree from Point Loma Nazarene University in 2012, and her MBA from Liberty University in 2015. Her background includes working on the Trump campaign’s 2020 presidential campaign, and she has been a key figure in disseminating Trump’s narratives about the 2020 election. As of today, Harp’s role within the Trump White House remains largely focused on facilitating Mr. Trump’s communication and strategic content dissemination, as evidenced by her consistent engagement with his social media posts and press releases.
