More than 1,800 delegates and supporters of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Ajumako Enyan Essiam Constituency have issued a formal threat to abandon the party if national leadership fails to facilitate the timely holding of the constituency elections, according to a statement released earlier today. The scheduled date for the elections, set for August 14, 2026, has become a focal point of considerable anxiety and uncertainty within the region. The delegation, led by Lawrence Abiate, a prominent figure within the NPP, formally voiced their apprehension at a press conference held in Ajumako. The statement underscores a deep-seated frustration stemming from protracted delays in the election organizing process, which the delegates allege has fostered divisions within the constituency. The core of the dispute centers around the perceived inability of the national party leadership to address the logistical challenges hindering the elections’ progression. Mr. Abiate emphasized the importance of adhering to the party’s constitution and election guidelines, stating that these regulations are essential for maintaining the integrity of the electoral system. He further pointed to a pattern of disputes and petitions initiated by the constituency’s legal representatives, alleging that some officials have been deliberately obstructing the party’s efforts to resolve these issues. The delegation asserts that the situation has created a climate of distrust and potential for conflict, with concerns that some party officials are actively undermining the process. Specifically, the delegates claim that a key aspirant, Ebenezer Rbo Quansah Eghan, has the backing of approximately 1,200 delegates and over 18,000 party faithful, who they contend will reconsider their involvement with the NPP if the impasse is not resolved. They have also called for disciplinary action against any party officials found to have contributed to the disagreements affecting the constituency. The statement included a poignant warning that failure to resolve the impasse could trigger a mass withdrawal of NPP supporters from the party and its activities. The delegates expressed disappointment with the continued postponement of the elections, advocating for a swift and decisive intervention from the national leadership to restore unity and confidence within the Ajumako Enyan Essiam Constituency. They reiterated that conducting elections in accordance with the party’s established constitutional and election guidelines is absolutely crucial to ensuring the continued stability and trust of party members within the region. Construction of Bolgatanga Airport to begin by end of 2026 – Mahama – Mahama, in a recent address, has also announced plans to begin construction of a new airport in Bolgatanga, promising a significant economic boost to the area. He has stated that a new 60-seater bus will be provided to the Paga school system, further demonstrating a commitment to improving education in the region.”]
