ARUSHA: THE minister for Natural Resources and Tourism Dr Ashatu Kijaji has directed the management of Tarangire National Park to adopt more innovative and strategic marketing approaches to attract more tourists and increase the park’s contribution to Tanzania’s target of receiving eight million visitors by 2030.
Kijaji issued the directive during a visit to Tarangire National Park, where she met communities living around the park and tourists visiting the attraction, stressing the importance of cooperation in conservation and tourism development.

She urged surrounding communities to actively participate in protecting the park’s natural resources, saying sustainable conservation would strengthen security in the protected area while creating more opportunities for communities to earn income and improve their livelihoods through tourism-related activities.
Speaking to tourists, Kijaji said the government was continuing to improve tourism services and the overall visitor experience while addressing challenges that could affect tourists during their stay. She said the goal was to ensure visitors to Tanzania receive quality services and leave the country with positive memories.
Kijaji said Tarangire’s wide range of attractions and accessibility were opportunities that should be fully utilised to increase visitor numbers.
In additionally, she called on the park’s management to strengthen promotion of its attractions and use strategic approaches to position Tarangire as a key destination as Tanzania works towards the eight-million-tourist target by 2030.
