The President of the Republic, Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema, received on Friday, October 2, 2026, at the Palais du Bord de mer, the Minister of Commerce, SMEs and PMI, who presented the programs designed to strengthen vocational training and job insertion for Gabonese citizens. At the heart of the discussions, a training program for technical and practical professions, initially targeting 400 young people in Libreville, followed by its progressive extension to the nine provinces. This initiative aims to bring together the skills offered with the national economy’s real needs. Beneficiaries will be able to train in useful professions for productive sectors, with the possibility, upon completion of their course, of accessing employment, creating a generating income activity, or launching their own business. The program does not limit itself to training. Technical support, access to financing, and monitoring of projects are also planned to help beneficiaries value their acquired skills. The Government must therefore ensure that the selected fields meet the needs of the labor market and businesses. Through this program, the focus is also on strengthening Gabonese SMEs and PMI. The goal is to strengthen local production, develop national value chains, and promote greater mobilization of available skills. During this audience, the Head of State instructed the Government to accelerate the implementation of the program. The training must therefore allow young people to better respond to the needs of productive sectors, while giving them the means to develop their own economic activities. This policy places a great emphasis on human capital in the transformation of the economy. It intends to foster the emergence of profiles capable of producing, undertaking, and creating jobs, rather than limiting young people to the status of job seekers.
