Lil Durk recently beat his murder-for-hire case, which led to optimism that he could be out of jail soon. However, he is still facing VICAR charges, as prosecutors accuse the artist of running a criminal enterprise.
The trial was given a placeholder date of October 5. It became clear that this date would never materialize given the fact that Durk was also given a bond hearing on November 4. For the last couple of weeks, there has been speculation about a delay, and on Wednesday evening, that speculation was officially confirmed.
According to Michael Blackshire, prosecutors filed a motion to delay the trial. Judge Fitzgerald granted the motion, and now, Durk's VICAR trial will take place on August 30, 2027. That means Durk will have to wait almost an entire year before seeing the courtroom again.

While Lil Durk still has a bond hearing in a month from now, there is no telling whether or not he will be granted his freedom. His fans remain optimistic that this will be the case. That said, the VICAR charges are serious and come with life in prison as a potential penalty. With that in mind, securing a bond could prove difficult, even after beating his previous case.
Durk's legal team consists of Brian Steel and Drew Findling, who were praised for their work on the murder-for-hire case. They have worked with the likes of Kodak Black, Diddy, Young Thug, and even YNW Melly.
The upcoming VICAR trial will be the make-or-break moment for Durk and his current legal situation. If acquitted, he will secure his freedom once and for all.
