The SEEG condemns the escalation of criminal acts targeting its electrical distribution posts in the Grand Libreville. Between Friday and Saturday, six posts were forced and ransacked in the Louis, Bas de Gué-Gué, Haut de Gué-Gué, and Kalikak districts, for a total of 117 fuses stolen, following similar incidents in recent weeks.
In addition to depriving Gabonese citizens of electricity in an already challenging context, these irresponsible acts put hundreds of homes, businesses, and services in darkness and delay the restoration of power, as teams must first replace the stolen equipment and secure the sites. They also put lives at risk. A forced and open post exposes children, passersby, and agents to serious accidents, sometimes fatal.
The SEEG invites clients and users to greater vigilance. No one should approach or enter an electrical post, nor should they buy electrical equipment from questionable sources.
The theft is a crime punishable by law, and the thief is complicit. Any suspicious presence or forced entry must be reported immediately to the SEEG Anti-Fraud Cell at 077 64 91 08 or 077 37 49 28.
The SEEG’s teams remain mobilized to restore service as quickly as possible and collaborate with authorities to identify the perpetrators, who will have to answer before justice.
