Diplomatie Infrastructure Le président de la République, Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema, has received this week in Libreville the ambassador of France, Fabrice Mauriès. The discussions centered on the implementation of the three agreements concluded during a recent visit of President Oligui Nguema to France in July, academic cooperation, and the advancement of road construction in the Ntoum and Nkok areas. During the meeting, Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema emphasized the need to ensure that agreements are implemented effectively. The monitoring of bilateral commitments should also allow for the translation of partnerships between Libreville and Paris into concrete results in areas such as investment, employment, skills transfer, and economic development. Academic cooperation was also discussed, particularly the increase in tuition fees and their consequences for Gabonese students and their families. The Gabon wishes to continue its exchange with France to preserve access to education for students and strengthen skills transfer. Both leaders also discussed the advancement of the 35-kilometer road connecting Ntoum to Nkok, which is presented as a strategic axis for mobility and economic activity. Improving this infrastructure should facilitate the movement of people and goods, as well as enhance the delivery of economic zones. Through these different dossiers, the Gabonese presidency indicates wanting to ensure that commitments made with France are followed and prioritize partnerships whose outcomes are measurable for the economy and populations. In July 2026, the two countries had then concluded three bilateral agreements, with the implementation of which now under scrutiny.
