At the request of the Rozdilna District Prosecutor’s Office in Odesa Oblast, the court imposed a preventive measure on a 42-year-old woman suspected of torturing her 7-year-old adopted son. The suspect was taken into custody without the right to post bail.
The woman is charged with child abuse under Article 127 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
According to the investigation, in 2024, the woman and her husband became foster parents. Subsequently, three young children—two sisters and their younger brother—were placed with the family.
The investigation established that the foster mother was aware of the 7-year-old boy’s diagnosis and the physiological characteristics associated with his health condition.
Despite this, according to law enforcement, the woman repeatedly punished the child for the consequences of his medical condition, over which the boy had no control.
In particular, during July of this year, the adoptive mother forced the 7-year-old boy to kneel on buckwheat and keep his arms raised above his head. In addition, according to the investigation, the woman repeatedly beat the child.
The investigation into this case is ongoing. Law enforcement officials are currently verifying information regarding other possible illegal actions involving all three foster children.
Investigators are also determining whether other individuals may have been involved in the alleged crimes.
All three children have already been removed from the family, and their safety has been ensured.
Investigative actions are currently underway to establish all the circumstances of the case.
