Ghana’s cybersecurity industry is highlighting a significant talent gap as cyber threats escalate, with criminals increasingly reusing successful attack methods across diverse sectors. Interim President C.K. Bruce stated that lacking sufficient trained professionals poses a major hurdle to the country’s digital security environment. He highlights that bolstering the pipeline of cybersecurity professionals – a field where rapid job growth is possible – as a key solution to this challenge.
Furthermore, Mr. Bruce cautioned that the industry faces a looming threat from evolving cybercriminals, who are adapting by taking attack techniques from one sector and applying them to others. They are now employing artificial intelligence to enhance the language of fraudulent messages, making them more difficult to detect. This requires ongoing public awareness campaigns and the collaborative efforts of institutions.
The Ghana Cybersecurity Industry Forum stresses that enhanced cyber hygiene, anti-phishing measures, and increased public-private collaboration are vital components of improving digital trust and securing Ghana’s cybersecurity posture.
