The Speaker deemed the motion inadmissible, stating that further consideration of the substance of the inquiry would impede the court’s assessment of pertinent issues. Mr. Bagbin emphasized that such an inquiry could potentially require Parliament to analyze transactions, assess actors’ conduct, and determine judicial rulings, ultimately suggesting that such a task would be beyond the scope of the court’s jurisdiction. He maintained that allowing the inquiry to continue would unfairly prejudice involved parties, and accordingly ruled that the motion could not proceed in its original form.
