The Scorpions’ aggressive comeback, coming from two goals down, was attributed to the apparent disruption experienced by some Ghana players in the dressing room following halftime. McKinstry stated his technical team believed the situation could be advantageous, encouraging the players to exploit the tension.
He pointed to observations within the team during halftime, noting that ‘something stronger than strong words’ was being exchanged among Ghana players, suggesting a significant disruption to the match’s momentum. The Gambia coach urged players to capitalize on this disruption, which he described as a ‘turning point’ in the game.
Ghana remains without a point after losses to Côte d’Ivoire and The Gambia, leaving Carlos Queiroz’s Black Stars with a challenging path to qualification for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations.
